Salt or No Salt? On the Rocks or Frozen? Corona or Dos Equis?

Heck, maybe I’ll go wild and order a Paloma or – wait! does that say drink of the day? – yes, bring that on. Don’t even tell me what’s in it. After all, it’s Cinco De Mayo.

While we feel the need to remind you this isn’t a real holiday in Mexico (or anywhere really), Columbus loves a good excuse to imbibe and Cinco De May is no exception. Here are a few places around town you can get down on May 5:

CD 102.5 Cinco De Mayo Modelo Bar Crawl, 7-11pm: Crawl to Oddfellows Liquor Bar, Pint House, Julep, Bernard’s and Bakersfield while winning concert tickets and drinking out of sweet Modelo mugs. Info

Nada “Cinco de Nada,” 11am-12am: Nada’s kicking off summer with a frozen citrus-mezcal cocktail, The Matador, (mezcal and dark rum, coconut, cinnamon, pineapple and fresh citrus) and Herradura Tequila shots for $8, in addition to their regular cocktail menu, Nadaritas, and Mexican beers. Chow down on special loaded nachos for $7 or explore their various taco, guacamole, and queso options. Info

Balboa Columbus’ 1 Year Celebration, 11am-1am: Grandview’s favorite So-Cal hangout is celebrating one year in business with a parking lot party from 11am-1am. The entire parking lot will be dedicated to circus performers, live mariachi music, an additional bar, and added seating and tables. Info

Park Street Cantina Cinco De Mayo party, 8am-2:30am: Park Street Cantina is partying from sunup to long-past-sundown with tacos, drink specials and live music. Info

Level One Bar + Arcade, 8pm-2am: Level One is serving tacos and drink specials including some fiesta-festive beers like Great Lakes Grandes Lagos (Mexican lager), North High Jalalima (jalapeno and lime pale ale) and Mad Mood Tightsqueeze (mango pomegranate cider) for $5. Enjoy a guest live DJ and the usual free-play arcade games. Info

Union Cafe, 11am-2am: Union Cafe is opening at 11am with all-day drink specials leading up to a special Cinco De Mayo show from local Super Drag Queen, Nina West. Info

German Village Garten Club Margaritas & Mariachis, 7-9pm: Get first pick of the GartenMarkt (opens to the public on May 6, 2017) vendors while enjoying live music and margaritas. Reservations are $45 and include two drinks tickets. Info

The Hills Market Downtown $15 Fridays: Cinco De Mayo Edition, 6-8pm: The Hills Market is “spicing” up their usual $15 tasting & food combo with some spicy wines, wines from Mexico, tequila, and tacos. Pre-sale tickets are $15 and include the all-you-can-eat taco bar as well as ten tastes of wine, beer or cocktails. Tickets at the door are $20. Info

On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina, 11am-11pm: On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina at Morse Crossing is having a “Cinco Like you Mean It” special featuring 14oz. frozen margaritas for $5 and top-shelf margaritas (1800 Mercedes tequila) for $10.

Tacos Mexican Grill & Cantina, 3-10:30pm: Tacos Mexican Grill & Cantina on Broad St. is serving up Cinco De Mayo specials all day in addition to their weekly Friday karaoke night starting at 9pm. Info

Oats and Barley Market: Wine Night!, 6-8pm: There’s not a lot going on here that has to do with Cinco de Mayo except that Oats and Barley wants you to know that you can drink wine on May 5, too. And we agree. So, if you’re looking to forgo the margarita and sample 5 wines for $5, check it out. Info
